Turning 40 was a big deal for me. Thys Wind gave me the encouragement and enthusiasm to get back in shape. Thys spent one-on-one time getting to know me and understanding what I wanted as an end result. The workout plan he setup was customized for me; it fit my needs and my schedule. When I got a little off course, Thys was right there encouraging me to get back on the plan. What I really like most about Thys that sets him apart from other trainers is that he sets a great example of eating proper nutrients and exercising. He didn't just watch me exercise; he exercised with me - sweat and all! He was always eating healthy foods which was contagious. His energy level was always high — I'm sure it had to do with the food he was eating. Thys has a great personality, is a great trainer and just an all-around caring person. Most importantly, Thys cared about my success.

Take a relatively average guy about to turn 40 years old and pair him up with an incredibly talented and knowledgeable trainer and what do you get... an Ironman finisher! When I was 30 years old, I finished the New York City marathon and hung up my endurance fitness shoes. For the most part, between two kids and a busy career, my goal of running another marathon when I turned 40 was starting to make me very nervous. Thank goodness that I met Thys Wind at this important time in my life.

Immediately, Thys made exercise and training fun and interesting again. Equally important was that I started seeing results. I was getting stronger, more flexible, and less prone to the back and muscle injuries that had haunted me the past 5 years. While his knowledge and creativity in the gym were startling (strangers in hotel gyms routinely would approach me to ask me where I was getting my training plan), his ability to motivate was also incredible. It was this combination that led me to approach Thys one day and ask for his opinion on completing an Ironman for my 40th year. After looking at the calendar and available events, Thys felt that we had enough time to get ready to prepare for the UK event in late August.

To this date, it was a close call who worked harder. Was it Thys preparing and adjusting the plan and dealing with all my questions? Or me following his every advice and not missing one minute or mile of his plan. I swam every lap, biked and ran every mile, practiced every scenario, and ate every calorie on the nutritional plan. Thys understood my strengths, weaknesses, and limitations (both time and physical). He crafted a perfect plan that allowed me to live a dream and finish the UK Ironman in 13 hours and 36 minutes.

Thys Wind was hired as our personal trainer 2.5 years ago by two athletic people who have always worked for years in a random way. Actually, Thys first came to us as a Christmas Gift from our daughter and son in-law and wow, what a terrific gift!! Our daughter had the pleasure of having Thys as her trainer at her place of employment and thought he was outstanding in his work.

At our home we had a room full of machines and Thys, not only the most likeable and very well educated in his field, was able to give us a very precise balanced program and showed us the correct way to use the machines.

Each week he arrived with a work-out program which included dynamic stretches, cardio and weight training in a way that advanced our fitness. Thys also gave us an occasional test to measure our fitness. We are a senior couple and Thys was patient with us and always made us feel good about our training.

We miss him and continue every day to keep up with all he taught us. We highly recommend Thys as a great fitness instructor and endurance trainer.
