How to Detect a Speed Trap
It seems with all of the crime around these days police officers would have better use for their time. However, we have to remember that speeding is still a crime and there are still areas where a speeding ticket is a big deal. One way we can prevent a speeding ticket from falling on us is to learn how to detect a speed trap.
So, what is a speed trap anyway? Well, any area that is a frequent hang out for police and where speeding tickets are generously handed out. Many of these areas have certain common characteristics that can give you a warning of an impending speed trap and a possible speeding ticket.
Small towns, for instance, are often areas where speeding tickets are handed out freely. When a town has one main road it is inevitably where the police officers are going to be. In addition, the low crime rates in these towns may leave police officers with little else to worry about. So, in these cases, a speeding ticket is often a bid deal and a way to pass the time. You may also encounter the occasional small town cop that has his mind made up about big city folk.
In addition to small towns, an area that has a successive number of either raising speed limit signs or falling speed limits signs has the potential to be a speed trap. Often times drivers may miss a sign or they may take longer to slow down than or be faster to speed up than what the signs permit. This is the type of speed trap that really gets under people’s skin.
Just as changes in the speed limit can denote upcoming speed traps, changes in the road may also signal an upcoming speed trap. Areas with sharp turns are often dangerous enough to actually warrant a speed trap, since speeders and innocent people may be in danger. Hills can also be a sign of upcoming speed traps because police cars may not be seen until you come right up on one.
One of the best ways to detect speed traps, or any police radar detection, is a radar or lidar detector. These are great at detecting speed traps where police officers have their radar guns on continuously. This is because radar detectors have time to detect the radar well in advance. However, when a police officer is not waiting for speeders and does not turn on his radar gun until he spots you, this is when a radar detector can fail.

”Speed up your windows”
These are the 5 tips with which you can “speed up your windows”. By following these simple tips your windows will run faster.
(A) “speed up your windows” by Performing a Boot Defragment
The following is the simple way to ‘’speed up XP startup”: make your system do a boot defragment, which will put all the boot files next to one another on your hard disk. When boot files are in close proximity to one another, your system will start faster.
On most systems, boot defragment should be enabled by default, but it might not be on yours, or it might have been changed inadvertently. To make sure that boot defragment is enabled:
1 Run the Registry Editor
2 Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftDfrgBootOptimizeFunction
3 Set the Enable string value to Y if it is not already set to Y.
4 Exit the Registry
5 Reboot
(B) ”speed up your windows” by using a Flash Memory to Boost Performance
This is an other way for your “windows speed up”. To improve performance, you need to install additional RAM memory. It’ll let you boot your OS much quicker and run many applications and access data quicker. There is no easiest and more technically elegant way to do it than use eBoostr.
eBoostr is a little program that lets you improve a performance of any computer, powered by Windows XP in much the same way as Vista’s ReadyBoost. With eBoostr, if you have a flash drive, such as a USB flash thumb drive or an SD card, you can use it to make your computer run better. Simply plug in a flash drive through a USB socket and Windows XP will use eBoostr to utilize the flash memory to improve performance.
The product shows the best results for frequently used applications and data, which becomes a great feature for people who are using office programs, graphics applications or developer tools. It’ll surely attract a special attention of laptop owners as laptop upgrade is usually more complicated and laptop hard drives are by definition slower than those of desktops.
(C) ”speed up your windows” by Removing Fonts for Speed
This is the tip number three to ” speed up your windows”.Fonts, especially TrueType fonts, use quite a bit of system resources. For optimal performance, trim your fonts down to just those that you need to use on a daily basis and fonts that applications may require.
1 Open Control Panel
2 Open Fonts folder
Move fonts you don’t need to a temporary directory (e.g. C:FONTBKUP?) just in case you need or want to bring a few of them back. The more fonts you uninstall, the more system resources you will gain.
(D) ”speed up your windows” by Optimizing Display Settings
This is tip numer four and important one to “speed up your windows” .Windows XP is a looker. But it costs you system resources that are used to display all the visual items and effects. Windows looks fine if you disable most of the settings and leave the following:
1 Show shadows under menus
2 Show shadows under mouse pointer
3 Show translucent selection rectangle
4 Use drop shadows for icons labels on the desktop
5 Use visual styles on windows and buttons
(E) “speed up your windows” by Detecting and Repair Disk Errors
This is my last tip for you and very important one.Over time, your hard disk develops bad sectors. Bad sectors slow down hard disk performance and sometimes make data writing difficult or even impossible. To detect and repair disk errors, Windows has a built-in tool called the Error Checking utility. It’ll search the hard disk for bad sectors and system errors and repair them for faster performance.
1 Follow Start > My Computer
2 In My Computer right-click the hard disk you want to scan and click Properties
3 Click the Tools tab
4 Click Check Now
5 Select the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box
6 Click Start
I hope you like these tips and these will be helpful for you in “speed up your windows”.

Internet Speed Test – Review and Info
The Internet has changed our life entirely. This new technology has become a major element which influences all that we do at work and at home. Hence we can say that our entire activity depends on the Internet speed, because according to this we can spend more or less time to accomplish what we intended to do. Since we live in a speedy century, we all are looking for a very high Internet speed, but this is not always an easy deal.
The first step is to learn how to find out what your Internet speed is. The Internet speed is determined by 2 components: the download rate and the upload rate of data which are usually measured in Kilobits per second. The download speed is the most important because we usually transfer files from Internet to our computer, but there are cases when we need a high upload speed.
We may test our internet speed in the manual way, by calculating the time our computer needs to transfer a file of a known size, but this is the old method.
The new way to determine our internet speed is to access a service that allows us to run a test through their servers by sending our computer an information packet which our computer will send it back to them. In this way the site measures the time our computer needed to download and upload the information packet and informs us the internet speed of our bandwidth.
By this test we measure the actual speed of the Internet and in the same time the real internet speedof our access to the internet. The actual speed limit is the amount of useful data that your internet connection can transmit and receive in a second. On the other side, the real internet speed includes also non-significant information. But when we make the test, only the actual speed is measured, the real internet speed is not important in this calculation.
Now that we know what our internet speed is, let’s see what we can do to improve it. The first solution is to install optimization software. If you have a Dial-Up connection and use Windows 98 or Me, click Start, Settings, and then Control Panel. Right click on the Modems icon and from Properties tab choose the General tab. Use the Maximum Speed Drop-Down menu to select 115200. If this setting causes your Modem to no longer connect, change it to 57600. Windows XP users should click Start, Control Panel and switch to classic view. Double-click the Phone and Modem options and choose the Modem tab. Change the maximum settings port speed to 115200 and if the Modem responds badly or not at all, change the speed to 57600.
Broadband users should think of using a tweak utility such as TCP Optimizer. After downloading the software we must run it and make a backup of our current settings. Save the backup, and follow the instructions in the software to optimize our broadband speed. Don’t forget to click apply changes and click Yes if the software ask you to re-boot the computer. Now our computer should run faster. If the new settings do not satisfy you, return to the program and restore your back up settings. If you failed to make a backup, restore Windows default settings.
And the last solution would be to change your internet provider with a better and reliable one. We may choose from a large scale of opportunities. There is no reason to waste our time with a lazy internet speed when we can spend our precious time with a high-speed internet connection.
